It'll be available from 9 January on the OnePlus online store.
The upcoming sandstone variant of the OnePlus 5T smartphone has been spotted on a Chinese retailer JD's website, confirming the white color option that was teased on a couple of occasions. The handset was initially made available in late November in Midnight Black, featuring specs and a design that were nearly identical to the original OnePlus 5.
In essence then, this is the same look as the limited Star Wars edition that launched exclusively in India last month, except without the official Star Wars logo stamped on the back.
For those of you who have followed OnePlus since the beginning, you'll know that the Sandstone texture has been a mainstay of the company's portfolio since the original OnePlus One. The company has released other phones and cases with the sandstone textured finish in the past, but this is the first time it's been applied to a metal device and the first time it's been available in white. Beyond the lighter hue, the white model also features a different texture than the black version (hence the "Sandstone" name). Firstly, a primer is applied before a white masking layer is coated onto the body. Second, a white masking layer was coated onto the body to ensure a white opacity. OnePlus says the process behind the design makes the new model its most expensive to build, and I really dig the red slider.
The Sandstone White model is only available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and it will go on sale on January 9 at 10am United Kingdom on OnePlus' website.
The Sandstone White OnePlus 5T price is the same as the black version, at $599 (£499), ensuring it keeps its affordable flagship price tag and goes on sale on January 9 at 10am GMT in the United Kingdom and 10am ET in the US.
