Oprah 2020? Winfrey 'would absolutely' run for president, partner says

Meanwhile, political journalist April Ryan tweeted: "If @Oprah ran for president in 2020, she is every person". Her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, and her close friend Gayle King have not done much to tamp down the chatter. 'I also know that after years of watching the Oprah show, you always have the right to change your mind'.

Billionaire philanthropist Oprah Winfrey gave a moving speech at the Golden Globes on January 7 and sparked rumors of a possible 2020 presidential run. Trump, of course, was little more than a businessman-turned-reality-television-star before his extraordinary political rise.

Other users of Twitter also responded, posting the names of those who have accused Donald Trump of misconduct and reminded Ivanka that time is up for her father, too.

"I'll beat Oprah. Oprah would be a lot of fun".

What's really going on with the Oprah boomlet, I suspect, is the latest round of a liberal-progressive unicorn hunt, which isn't all that new in itself but has been amplified by current Trumpian conditions.

Speaking to reporters at a meeting of lawmakers working on an immigration bill, Trump said "Yeah, I'll beat Oprah". "I think Oprah would be great".

Even so, for Democrats in early voting states, and perhaps for a public that largely disapproves of President Donald Trump's job performance, the notion of a popular media figure as a presidential candidate is not as unusual as it once seemed, given the NY real estate mogul and reality TV star now in the White House.

But in another TV interview in October, she dampened speculation, stating, "There will be no running for office of any kind for me". "At the same time, politics is ridiculous right now". But the famous television host does not plan to take up the challenge yet, according to King, who was pressed by colleagues on CBS This Morning to say whether she believes Winfrey will run. Her reputation as a performer and influencer and her freedom to say what she wants without risking her career or future prospects were critical factors allowing her to speak. Or is she secretly a Democrat who hates her father? "I think we'd win easily, actually".

"Did anybody see last night's episode of "Oprah"?" And though polls show his approval up slightly since, Trump is the least popular first-year president on record. She has been poor & now rich.

Winfrey, 64, has become a cultural phenomenon over the past 30-plus years.

That being said, an Oprah for President campaign in King's view, still seemed like a pipe dream.

Whether she's telling the truth or trying to throw us off the scent, only time will tell. Oprah should not be the next president.
