The chairman of selectors also said he was feeling unfortunate to sideline the chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav for the Test series. It was a unanimous choice and we had no doubts about that.
India captain Virat Kohli, who has been playing non-stop cricket since IPL, will be given a month's break to recharge his batteries before the all-important South Africa tour.
"Otherwise, Kuldeep is definitely a top-class bowler and over a period of time we'll see him growing".
Parthiv Patel will also travel to South Africa as a backup wicket-keeper to Wridhhiman Saha.
The squad features three uncapped players in Washington Sundar, Deepak Hooda and Basil Thampi.
