Veterans Day activity to honor those who served

For some attendees, the Veterans Parade was a time to reflect on their military service and that of others.

We show gratitude through a renewed commitment to care for those men and women who have faithfully served our nation in uniform.

The upcoming Veterans Day ceremony in New Milford will commence at 11 a.m. on November 11 on the south end of the Village Green.

We are grateful to the numerous sponsors of this event, including every branch of our military, our police and fire departments, MISD and several local businesses and community groups, including Mansfield Churches FOR THE CITY.

Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day because the "armistice" or agreement signed between the Allies and Germany ended World War I. It called for the cessation of all hostilities to take effect at 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month of the year in 1918. Hark Gotard. Any veteran who would like to participate is asked to meet at the Salvation Army parking lot on Arendell Street.

The morning's events will begin with the City's Freedom Mile Run at 8:45 a.m., which serves as the kick-off for the parade.
