The game is being developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with its release planned for sometime in 2018.

Valkyria Revolution was a big disappointment, but SEGA is hoping to put things right with yet another mainline release in its Valkyria Chronicles franchise.

The Return of a Legendary Composer - The illustrious Hitoshi Sakimoto, original composer of the Valkyria Chronicles series and countless other emotional epics, returns to provide a sweeping orchestral soundtrack for the game.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the first game in the series that is a direct sequel and not a different story set in the same universe. Now, Sega is expanding their lineup, and they're starting with one of their most-loved series - Valkyria Chronicles. Players will take control of a group of soldiers defending against the Imperial army in battles that blends turn-based strategy and third-person gunplay.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be set in the same timeframe as the original Valkyria Chronicles, but with a new cast of characters and story.

The first thing that we know is that when the game first hits Japan, there will be a special edition released called the Valkyria Chronicles 10th Anniversary Memorial Pack. Commander Claude Wallace and his childhood friends make up Squad E as they venture into Imperial territory only to find themselves faced with both an Imperial counterattack and a bitter early winter.

The publisher is yet to confirm a release date but it does say that the title will be out at some point in 2018.
