SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) - Gunfights between militants and Indian troops broke out Tuesday in two different places in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.
In a separate operation, militants gave a search party of security forces the slip in Laam forests of Tral, Pulwama.
The injured soldier and policeman were shifted to a hospital.
The slain militants were identified as local cadres of the Hizbul Mujahideen group. Though some reports said Mudasir was a B Tech graduate, Pani ruled out this.
Officials said the militants could be foreigners.
Authorities snapped internet services in Kulgam and adjoining Anantnag district after the incident. "The operation was called off after no contact was established with them", a police official said. The security personnel retaliated, resulting in the encounter in which two militants were killed.
