While Veterans Day is on Saturday, the city of Paducah held their ceremony and parade on Friday.
A Veterans Day concert will be held at 2 p.m.at the Tobin Center. Music begins at noon, with the parade scheduled for 1 p.m. and a prayer and follow-up program in the park gazebo after the parade ends. Speakers will include Cmdr.
Yosemite National Park is offering free admission this weekend in honor of Veterans Day. Stephen Doyle, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 832 South Portland; Capt. Michael Baroody of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Northern New England; Mayor Patricia Smith and City Clerk Emily Scully. Jerry Key, followed by a brief statement about the history of Veterans Day and the Vietnam War by retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Joe Hurd of Hardin County.
Also at 9 a.m. a Korean War Memorial Ceremony will take place at Jackson Square in Weymouth which will be followed by a parade to the Ralph Talbot Amphitheater for a re-dedication of the Veterans Memorial Wall.
During the ceremony, Walter Eugene Lowrey has honored as the 2017 Distinguished Veteran and the parade's grand marshal.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, Immanuel Lutheran Church will host a Veterans Day Recognition Luncheon for all local veterans and those still actively serving in the United States military and their spouses or significant others.
