Lucasfilm is excited to announce that Johnson will create a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, the first of which he is also set to write and direct, with longtime collaborator Ram Bergman onboard to produce. As digging for secret connections between movies and books and shows is the most favorite pastime of every single hardcore Star Wars fan ever, it'll still be hard to convince them this is something new.

Johnsons upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in USA theaters on December 15, 2017.

That's about all we know right now about the forthcoming new movie series: "The Last Jedi" is coming to theatres on December 15, and then the final episode of the Skywalker saga will be released in 2019. That is only the beginning, because December 13th brings with it a ton of new content for both online multiplayer and the singleplayer campaign.

What would you want to see from a brand new Star Wars trilogy?

Players will have to choose between the First Order and The Resistance, and will unlock special challenges tailored to those factions. Whichever side - light or dark - wins the most challenges that week will receive a special crate with "high-power upgrades" for either Finn or Captain Phasma. Each can be purchased with in-game Credits that week.

In Kennedy's interview with "The Star Wars Show", she proudly said that Johnson has done an "exceptional job" in handling the new characters together with the iconic ones that will definitely move fans to the "next place". Also, a new hero ship will be playable: Tallie Lintra's RZ-2 A-wing from The Last Jedi.

Welcome to the new Star Wars. Like all things Star Wars in this modern age, one wouldn't be remiss to look to the master behind the master.
