The world of comic books was rocked by some very big news this morning.
During his time with Marvel, Bendis has co-created a number of fan-favorite characters including Miles Morales, the young black and Latino Spider-Man (with Sara Pichelli), and Jessica Jones, the superhero-turned private investigator (with Michael Gaydos).
A majority of the most popular writers and artists working in comics today have plied their trade for both Marvel and DC Comics.
"We are beyond thrilled to welcome Brian Michael Bendis exclusively to the DC family with a multiyear, multi-faceted deal", the statement reads.
Bendis followed the news with his own tweet: "This is real". Change is good. Change is healthy. It's then that Marvel Comics hired Bendis to help helm their forthcoming reboot they would entitle Ultimate Spider-Man. "Details to come! Stay tuned!" he continued.
The announcement was made by DC on Twitter, and states not only is Bendis heading for the hallowed Hall of Justice to hang with the likes of the Man of Steel and Dark Knight, but his contract with DC is exclusive, meaning his time at Marvel is coming to an end. A Marvel spokesperson thanked Bendis for his tenure with the company and wished him luck with his future projects. Some of note though include Powers, New Avengers, Daredevil, Alias, Jinx, House of M, Secret Invasion, Spider-Woman and All-New X-MenHe also was lead writer on a few video games for Marvel, including Activision's Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel Heroes, and an Avengers game that never saw release.
Certainly, there are probably a lot of DC Comics fans out there who are curious to see which characters Bendis will tackle first.
