David Cassidy is in the hospital in critical condition - his organs are shutting down, and as one source put it, "It's looking grim".

David Cassidy has been hospitalized for organ failure, a representative for the singer and The Partridge Family star confirmed Saturday.

The 67-year old pop idol and "Partridge Family" star has been suffering from dementia, he announced earlier this year. They were also told he's suffering from kidney failure.

The publication claims he "needs a liver transplant soon or he could die".

The news comes after the actor revealed in February that he has dementia.

A rep for the actor said he was "currently conscious and surrounded by family", but was previously induced in a coma. "I want to focus on what I am, who I am and how I've been without any distractions", he said.

Cassidy has had numerous personal problems in the decades following his debut, ranging from substance abuse to bankruptcy.

In the show, Cassidy's stepmother, Shirley Jones, played his fictional mother, Shirley Partridge.
