Maraghy has been charged with simple assault, according to CMPD.
Maraghy was taken to Mecklenburg County jail, but was later released and did not answer any of Channel 9's questions.
A man has been arrested in connection with a disturbing video showing a Carolina Panthers fan punching another spectator during Thursday night's National Football League game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The NFL confirmed to CBS Sports they are in contact with Carolina Panthers security after a video surfaced from the game showing a fan in a Panthers jersey punching another fan in the face several times.
The seated fan, who Charlotte police said is 62 years old, was treated for his injuries at the stadium and released, according to si.com. He said that a man wearing a Panthers jersey and a woman standing next to him were both standing up for the entire game.
Early Friday morning, Warren Carrigan posted footage of the bloodied encounter on his Facebook and Instagram pages.
"We have reviewed video tape of the incident and have identified the perpetrator", the Panthers aid in a statement.
The incident took place during the team's loss against the Philadelphia Eagles at North Carolina's Bank of America Stadium. The assailant was seated in section 541, row 24, seat 10.
The Panthers fan ran away while witnesses called for security, as seen on the video published on Crossing Broad. The dude took offense to the couple never sitting down and obstructing his view.
Channel 9 looked into Maraghy's past and found he was charged with assault in 2013 but those charges were dropped.
Instead, the Panthers fan berated him with insults - and ultimately punched the other fan in the face, instantly opening a nasty gash that began to gush blood.
