It was fairly inevitable that the Rocky franchise would continue following the success of Ryan Coogler's Creed back in 2015 - but development has been slow moving.
Sylvester Stallone has revealed himself to be the director and producer of the Rocky spinoff Creed 2.
Sylvester Stallone will be appearing as a guest star in the next season of "This is Us". Creed followed the life and career of Adonis Johnson (played by Michael B. Jordan) as he attempts to break into the world of boxing, to follow in the footsteps of his father.
He also shared photos of Jordan from the first film to get fans exited about this sequel.
While Stallone's more recent directorial ventures have been, to put it bluntly, incredibly boring (he was last seen helming the ambitious and bafflingly successful The Expendables), he at least here already has a solid blueprint from Coogler to work with.
While Stallone only acted in Creed, he had written every other Rocky movie until then, and directed four of the films. News for "Creed 2" just seems to leak out in small doses so no doubt more to come... It is possible that "Creed 2" will come out as early as next year.
A release date for "Creed 2" has not been set yet. However, it's much safer to expect the film to hit theaters in 2019.
