Motorola today announced the Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa Assistant Moto Mod for Moto Z Smartphones. Motorola hasn't given up yet and wants the Moto Mods to become a success in the future, which is why there's a new Moto Mod in the market that aims to revolutionise the market.

The Moto Smart Speaker has a 1,530mAh battery and is capable of outputting 8W of sound. With this speaker connected to your Moto Z device, you'll be able to access Alexa by voice command at any time. As a testament to that, it even sports the Echo's iconic blue LED ring. Also, this Moto Mod is not an affordable solution as the Amazon Echo Dot speaker is priced only at $50, which is a third of the price of the Moto Mod Smart Speaker.

Easily use Alexa to connect to a variety of smart devices.

One notable design cue here is the dock in which it can double as a charging stand. Motorola says this is just the thing for nightstands. When in dock mode, the user's Moto Z smartphone is also ideal for their nightstand. The Alexa speaker will be available for $150 United States (£99 in the UK) when it ships in November to those countries where Alexa has official support.

With the Amazon Prime Exclusive version of the Moto X4, you do get lockscreen ads, but it's also $329 which is the cheapest way to get the Moto X4.

For those who love home automation, the new Moto Smart Speaker will let you turn the lights on and adjust your home temperature before you arrive. For the asking price, it is still a hard buy but we will know in November if there is truly a need for such an accessory for the Moto Z line-up.
