Variety reported that the band was playing a cover of the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)". The singer tried to grab the prop but couldn't and it just fell over him.

After the stage crew lifted the prop upright, Manson continued to lay on the ground for a few minutes until EMT workers arrived.

They told Metro.co.uk previously: 'Manson suffered an injury towards the end of an incredible NYC show.

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson was injured onstage during a concert in NY at the Hammerstein Ballroom Saturday night, after a stage prop appeared to fall on him.

A representative for Manson confirmed that he was being treated in hospital but gave no further details of how seriously he had been injured or his condition.

Tyler Bates, his bandmate and producer, said in an Instagram post on Sunday that 'Manson will be back in action soon'.

Marilyn Manson is officially taking time off from his ongoing tour. "'Heaven Upside Down" is released October 6th, with an insane video to stoke the fire.

Fans at the Hammerstein Ballroom "instantly freaked out", one told the BBC.

Fan-shot video shows Manson attempting to climb the giant guns prop before accidentally pulling it down on top of himself. The show was eventually canceled while Marilyn was carried off on a stretcher and transported to a hospital. I was like, 'Oh, this is not a joke.' He moved for a minute at first but then he was still.

Immediately after the incident, the concert venue went dark and the music stopped.

He added: "It was really surreal to watch him play live".

Reps for Manson have not commented on how he is doing nor have they revealed the extent of his injuries.
