Las Vegas Shooter Reportedly Targeted Lollapalooza

Paddock, 64, booked one room at the Blackstone Hotel starting August 1, two days before the festival opened.

Law enforcement officials told NEWS CENTER partner USA Today that Paddock booked rooms in a Chicago hotel facing the Lollapalooza music festival in August.

Chance the Rapper, Muse, and Lorde all played at the festival, which was attended by around 45,000 people.

Paddock rented the room at the Ogden condo complex via Airbnb during the Life is attractive music festival, which lasted from September 22 to 25, the sheriff said.

On Wednesday police said that Paddock had previously rented rooms with sights on the "Life is Beautiful Festival", in Las Vegas.

Danley, who was out of the country visiting the Philippines when the shooting occurred, said that she was not aware of Paddock's murderous plans.

In a statement, the Blackstone emphasized that no one by the name of Stephen Paddock actually stayed in the hotel during the Lollapalooza run.

If the killer had put his plan into execution, the shooting would no doubt have been even more deadly: the location of the scenes would have made it hard to leak to the public, and it is also significantly more numerous than in Las Vegas.

"You can't let terror deter you from enjoying yourself and going about a normal life", Tina Manley said.

The profile developed so far is of a "disturbed and dangerous" man who acquired an arsenal over decades, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said.

New details in the case have emerged over the last four days indicating Paddock checked into his two-room suite at Mandalay Bay on September 28.

Paddock also booked a room near another Las Vegas concert a week before the shooting, police confirmed.

Paddock led such a low-key, private life that no one seemed to know him well, and those who did had no sense he was capable of the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. He allegedly picked a hotel room with a clear view of the concert crowd across the street, stockpiled modified high-powered weapons and even set up cameras in and around the hotel suite he did the shooting from.

Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, was questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday and said in a statement she had been unaware of his plans. "That's the one in this one, and we are not there yet", FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo today told reporters Paddock had 1600 rounds of ammunition and about 22kg of tannerite, an explosive commonly used in target shooting, in his vehicle.
