Police later arrested Mathews, who claimed to be the last person who saw the 3-year-old. In an effort to find clues leading to the toddler's whereabouts, they towed three vehicles from the Matthews' home Saturday afternoon - two SUVs and a minivan. There have been no new developments in her case according to WFAA reporter, David Goins. When he returned 15 minutes later, Sherin was gone. She was told by her father, Wesley Matthews, to stand near a tree next to their home for not finishing her milk. The house also backs on a railroad track.

Mathews didn't call to report his daughter missing until five hours later, according to Perlich, who was unavailable for additional comment early Monday.

The couple's 4-year-old daughter ha been removed and placed in foster care, said Marissa Gonzales, a spkeswoman with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Authorities broadcast an AMBER Alert on the child on Saturday morning when she vanished from her backyard. Church members printed and posted fliers in the family's neighborhood and surrounding the Richland Meadows area, according to NBC.

The father of a missing North Texas toddler was arrested for child endangerment Saturday. He was released late Sunday after posting $250,000 bond, Perlich told the Chronicle. "As far as why she was out there, how long she was out there, that's the questions we have for the parents".
