Dodgers advance to NLCS with sweep of Diamondbacks

The LA Dodgers will attempt to end their National League Division Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday as they look to gain a third straight win to progress to the next round of the postseason. It is better that way. The past, on the other hand, only brings pointed and worrisome questions.

Fans who tuned in to see Game 3 of the NL Division Series instead ended up watching a Cody Bellinger highlight video. Four years ago the Dodgers clinched the NL West while playing in Phoenix and celebrated by jumping in the Diamondbacks' swimming pool in right-center.

However the Dodgers got the run right back, a lead off home run by Barnes made it a 3-2 game. We love it when Zack pitches.

Being a spectator in the playoffs did have one advantage, according to Corbin.

Meanwhile, his counterpart, Yu Darvish, was absolutely filthy through the first four innings for the Dodgers.

The Red Sox just took him out two batters too late.

"Being around this team for long enough, this is where we expect to be", ace Clayton Kershaw said. "After another decisive Game 2 win on Saturday, Roberts" faith in his bullpen appears to be restored.

"I think we kind of pitched around some guys sometimes here and there and weren't really aggressive". It's about taking our walks - six, seven, eight walks.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts knows how good Arizona can be at home. Los Angeles is now four wins away from making it to the World Series for the first time since 1988.

After a 20-pitch fifth, by far his most laborious inning of the night, Darvish's pitch count was at 68 when Roberts let him bat with one out and a man on third in the top of the sixth, but after almost hitting Walker once (a review confirmed the call that it was a foul ball), he did hit him on the very next pitch, which produced a scary moment. Acquired at the July 31 trade deadline from the Texas Rangers - precisely for moments such as these - Darvish, a four-time all-star, delivered a gem in Monday night's clincher, reduced to a five-inning stint only because the Dodgers' bullpen is so deep and functional these days. The Dodgers have home field come game one in the NLCS. But when I've watched him, his stuff is unbelievable. "We were here past year, and you saw how close we got".

The final score of the game came off the bat of Austin Barnes, though, as he put one into the seats-ultimately ending the night for Zack Greinke-who lasted just over five innings while giving up three runs. The younger Bellinger put the Dodgers on the board in the first with an RBI groundout that brought in Chris Taylor, who'd ripped a 109 miles per hour leadoff double off Greinke.

"I'm not going to do anything for me in the postseason that's very uncharacteristic", Roberts said. "This team feels a little different [than recent Dodger teams]".

By the end of a grueling, six-month, 162-game regular season, baseball folks like to say, water finds it level, and a team is exactly what its record says it is. He gave up as many as three runs only once. The K was followed by a Peralta base hit just out of the reach of Turner. It just happened those losses came in one cluster.
