In spite of comments from Capcom back in 2015 stating that there would never be a new edition of Street Fighter V, Amazon.com seems to have accidentally revealed Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition via a listing on their site. As we noted in our review, it released with no arcade mode, no story mode, and no best-of-three versus mode, which by all rights should be standard features for a modern Street Fighter game.
In addition to the highly-requested Arcade Mode, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition contains a bounty of new features, including Extra Battle Mode, Gallery, a redesigned UI, and more!
For those players that already own Street Fighter V, the Arcade Mode and all of the attendant features will be a free update.
The updated version will be available digitally and physically in North America and Europe for a recommended retail price of $39.99.
New Challengers: The original roster of 16 fighters is joined by 12 new challengers from Season 1 and 2, bringing the current roster count up to 28. "As it's our 30th anniversary year, we wanted to add even more to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition!".
What's also intriguing about the Extra Battle description is the mention that players will "use their Fight Money for the chance to receive an exclusive premium outfit each month".
Arcade Mode - choose from six different paths themed after classic Street Fighter games. The updated version will be released on January 16, 2018, on Windows PC and PS4. If a player wants to jump in with Arcade Edition, it'll run them $39.99 United States dollars and will include all aforementioned content. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is expected to launch on January 16th.
