Woman arrested after viral video shows her thrashing Armyman


The subedar leading the party told police that the woman overtook them near Rajokri flyover and started driving in a zigzag fashion in front of the Army truck. The soldier seems to be trying to reason with her while fending off the assault.Ms Kalra, who lives in Gurgaon, had stopped her Tata Indica auto in front of an army truck ferrying soldiers , As Reported By NDTV.

The accused lady was apprehended by the police and FIR under 4 different sections of the IPC was also registered against her.

In the mobile video that had gone viral on social media, 44-year-old Smriti Kalra can be seen thrashing a soldier before walking back to her vehicle. The complaint said Kalra held the constable by the collar, slapped him and hurled abuses at him.

When the truck driver walked up to the auto and tried to reason with Kalra, she apparently held him by the collar and slapped him.

The soldier and other soldiers are seen trying to speak to her, but to no avail. One of the JCOs got off the vehicle and talked with Kalra.

She blamed him for being an Army personnel.

In the video, the woman can be seen slapping the jawan.

NDTV reported that Smriti Kalra, a resident of Gurgaon, was arrested for "causing hurt to deter a public servant".

Kalra, a graduate in Home Science, got married to an Army officer's son in 1995. She now lives with her parents in Gurgaon.

According to police, the woman got out of her auto and slapped the JCO, who was in uniform and was driving an official vehicle, after a minor brush between the two vehicles. Kalra's Tata Indica vehicle has been seized.
