Wilshere looking good ahead of Arsenal return - Wenger

He was supposed to be Arsenal's saviour and future captain for many years to come but very little has gone to plan for Jack Wilshere thus far. It is like you have a vehicle accident, some don't want to drive any more and some take the auto and go on again.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's Super Sunday clash against Premier League champions Chelsea, Bellerin believes their current form can be compared to their opponents' start last season and that the Gunners shouldn't be considered out of the title race.

Köln qualified for this season's competition by finishing fifth in the Bundesliga last season, but without leading goal scorer Anthony Modeste who moved to China, appear to be struggling. In Group H, Arsenal get their maiden campaign in Europe's second-tier club competition up and running when they play hosts to FC Koln at Emirates. Who will come out on top?

"Teams like Leicester and Chelsea, they didn't have any midweek games [when they won the Premier League] so obviously players will get more rest and just play at the weekend". The initial signs from Wenger are fairly encouraging, with Petr Cech, Alexandre Lacazette, Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey all rested. Coquelin is out for three weeks.

"Actually that's a very private... decision because it's true that I was close to leaving the club because I said that I wanted to play", he said. Manager Jose Mourinho made winning the competition a priority as United slipped to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Only 18 players in the 131-year history of the club have scored more than Giroud, with Theo Walcott (100 goals) the only current player ahead of him on the all-time list.

"Obviously for a striker it's always important to score, the statistics are very important, and I keep it in a part of my mind", he said. Rob Holding and Alex Iwobi will be in the frame, whilst the ever impressive Reiss Nelson should be in the squad.
