Seattle mayor Ed Murray resigns over sex abuse allegations

"During that time, Murray regularly molested me in ways that can be best described as repeated and prolonged Child Molestation of the First Degree, or worse", Dyer said in the declaration.

"My sisters would be in their rooms, sleeping".

For five months, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray rejected calls for his resignation amid allegations he sexually abused teens decades before entering politics. "After that, Murray left town, Dyer said, and he never saw or spoke to his cousin again". He withdrew in May from the Seattle mayor's race, saying the campaign should be focused on issues, not scandal. "I guess they see me down and out, and they want to finish me off", said Murray as quoted by the Times. "Your chickens have come home to roost".

In July, the Seattle Times uncovered a CPS report about his alleged abuse that was previously believed to have been destroyed.

Delvonn Heckard, 46, a college student and recovering addict who lives in Kent.

Another alleged victim, a 49-year-old resident of Portland, in the neighboring state of OR, went on television to accuse the progressive and openly homosexual Democratic politician of sexual assault.

Simpson told KOIN 6 News Murray's resignation is "overdue, but every time he gets in front of the media, he continues to lie to everybody about how he hasn't done anything". Says he plans to refile. That prompted OR child-welfare officials to conclude Murray should never again be a foster parent. He is also a recovering addict.

The most recent abuse allegations against Murray came from a man claiming to be Murray's cousin.

Lloyd Anderson, another man who met Murray in Portland as a boy, has backed Simpson's allegations, and said Murray also paid him for sex when Anderson was a teenager.

Murray, 62, has worked for the Washington state legislature for almost 20 years, and a spokesman said that the Mayor would not field any questions from the press.

"I felt it was wrong and I felt dirty", he said, claiming that Murray "told me it would be OK and it would be our secret and not to tell anybody".

Still, "I must admit that my heart aches". I have had enough.' I have been carrying this around for 40-some years. All four men have "histories of drug use and serious criminal records", the SeattleTimes reported, and Murray has denied their claims.
