Northwestern College ranked 10th by US News and World Report

In the 2018 U.S. News and World Report "Best Colleges" rankings, published today, UCLA shares the No.1 spot with UC Berkeley.

It's the UO's third year at 103 among national universities, after rising three years ago to 106 from 109. "We are very proud of that status and find it to be one of our primary attractions for our new and transfer students".

NC State's overall score rose four points to 54.

Baylor University is ranked No. 75 among National Universities in the latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report. The ranking defines public colleges and universities as those that are typically operated under the supervision of state governments and funded, in part, by tax dollars and subsidies from the state. The Blacksburg school also rose in the list of best public schools, moving to No. 25 from No. 27.

U.S. News analyzed more than 650 regional universities in various categories including retention and graduation rates, class sizes, student/faculty ratios, and acceptance rates.

The University of IL at Chicago climbed its way back up the list to the No. 145 spot after falling to No. 152 past year from a previous high of No. 129.

Misericordia University has climbed 26 places in the rankings since 2007. According to the magazine, the list was compiled by asking college presidents, provosts and admissions deans to nominate colleges that are making the "most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities". Creighton also maintained its place at the top of the "Best College for Veterans" ranking in the Midwest, as well as earning a No. 3 spot for "Most Innovative Schools".

U.S News recognized Howard in other major ranking categories.

The University of CT got its highest ranking yet among the nation's top public universities, according to the 2017 U.S. News and World Report ranking of public universities.

ACT and SAT scores and the number of Clemson freshmen who were in the top 10 percent of their high school classes rank among the top 15 public universities.

According to its website, the U.S. News ranking system "uses exclusively statistical quantitative and qualitative measures that education experts have proposed as reliable indicators of academic quality, and it is based on U.S. News' researched view of what matters in education".

The University of SC ranked No. 1 in worldwide business programs.

In August, for the 14th consecutive year, WIU was named a "Best Midwestern College" by The Princeton Review, and as a "Best Bang for the Buck" Midwestern school and as one of the top master's degree granting institutions in the nation by Washington Monthly.

In addition, the AFA tied for second in High School Counselors Top College Picks, with the United States Military Academy and Williams College.
