Still, he's come a long way in the almost six years since, and today (September 15), released new track "Too Much to Ask" which offers additional insight into his forthcoming solo album.

On this summer's "Flicker Sessions Tour", Horan even opened with an acoustic version of One Direction's "Fool's Gold".

"I'd obviously written a lot of stuff when I was teenager and 19 or whatever", Niall says. And Niall isn't traveling alone either, as rising Country-star Maren Morris will join the Flicker World Tour 2018. "[It] kinda changed my mind on where I was taking it hence the fact it's quite chilled out from what you'll hear in a few weeks".

In addition to the exciting information, Horan also included a photo of the official album art for the record.

"Can't wait to get back on the road & play this album for you". The following September, Horan released his debut solo single, "This Town", an acoustic pop song that earned comparisons to Ed Sheeran and Vance Joy.

The Irish singer was put together with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik to form the hit boyband on United Kingdom reality show The X Factor in 2010, and in September 2011 they released their first single What Makes You Beautiful, which hit the top of the charts around the world.
