Google reportedly working on Echo Show competitor

Announced as part of the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) API, the feature is in private beta with companies such as AccuWeather will provide weather updates, and The Washington Post will provide users breaking news alerts. For a limited time, customers can get the all-new Fire TV and Echo Dot together for $79.99 or the Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot together for $59.99-a 33 percent savings. The new Echo supports Dolby Audio to support some products directly so you can have better entertainment.

The screen can also stream a video feed from compatible smart cameras, and contains a camera of its own that you can view a live feed of from the Alexa app.

Although the retailer has never actually disclosed sales figures for its first generation of Echo devices, CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners) reports that a huge 15 million devices have been sold to date. The device will only be available in December, with pre-orders already being accepted for a price of $130. Calls from the United States to other parts of North America will be free.

Amazon also launched the Echo Spot, a small circular speaker created to sit on a nightstand or desk. This should give users full access to Alexa right from their dashboards no matter where they are.

The Echo Show, for the uninitiated, is a touch-screen version of Amazon's Echo device. In one instance, Amazon showed how a family might play a game like Trivial Pursuit using the buttons to chime in for answers.

The Amazon Echo Plus looks like the original Echo (a tall cylindrical unit) but will double as a hub for the smart home.

Google is undeniably feeling pressure to stay in the competition after Amazon registered a big lead in the smart speaker market. As Amazon announced the Echo speaker with an assistant built-in, and no one really knew why this was made.

The Amazon Echo speaker is priced at $99 (roughly Rs. 6,500) and if you purchase three of these Echo speakers, you get a $50 (Rs. 3,200) off with a total billing amount of $250 (Roughly Rs. 16,400). Echo Spot delivers everything you love about Alexa with a smaller design and the added convenience of a circular screen so that Alexa can show you things.

As well as displaying visual information, the Show is also capable of playing video content from a variety of sources including, of course, Amazon Prime Video.
