Winning ticket sold for Friday's $393 million Mega Millions drawing


The triumphant ticket was purchased in Palos Heights, Illinois, as indicated by lottery authorities.

This is the largest Mega Millions jackpot in nearly a year and is the fifth-largest prize in the game's 15-year history, according to the website, which did not identify the victor. The jackpot started April 28 and rolled over 30 times. The ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night.

If you didn't strike gold in Friday's drawing, there's a whopping $356 million jackpot up for grabs during Saturday night's Powerball drawing. That big stake has been working since June 10. Winners who want the Cash Option payment must claim their prizes within the first 60 days after the drawing. The odds of winning Powerball are 1 in 292 million.

The Friday Mega Millions jackpot is up to $393 million. Two other jackpots have also been awarded this year - $191 million, also in California, and $177 million to a ticket he purchased in Arkansas.
