Israeli Retaliatory Airstrikes on Hamas Positions in Gaza Injure 4 Palestinians

A medical official at Shifa hospital in Gaza City were being treated for shrapnel wounds from the explosion.

The Israeli Air Force fired missiles, on Wednesday at dawn, into several areas, west of Gaza city and Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the besieged and improvised Gaza Strip, wounding at least seven Palestinians, including one who suffered a serious injury.

While no group immediately claimed Tuesday's rocket fire, Israel holds Hamas responsible for all rockets emanating from the Strip.

On Tuesday evening, warning sirens blared in southern Israel as the rocket from the Gaza Strip was sacked into the country. Three injuries were reported، one of them critical، due to a fracture in the skull.

The damage caused is significant, according to a security source.

"Israel's deliberate arbitrary air strikes on Gaza resistance sites are a unsafe move", added Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhum. The Gaza Strip, along with the Golan Heights, the West Bank and the Sinai Peninsula were seized by Israel as a result of the Arab-Israeli Six-Day War in 1967.

The israeli army confirmed the strikes, stating that they were in retaliation for a shooting of a rocket from Gaza that hit a few hours earlier in southern Israel no casualties or damage.
