Down 5-4 in the sixth inning to the Royals on Wednesday night, the Cardinals loaded the bases.

After managing to pick up the cat, Lucas Hackmann, a member of the Busch Stadium grounds crew, was treated at first aid for the scratches and bite he received from the cat.

The grounds crew member who ran on the field to rescue Rally Cat is gaining national attention.

On the very next pitch, Molina launched a grand slam into the left-field seats to give the Cardinals an 8-5 lead.

As Hackmann was taken to the hospital to attend to his injuries, the Cardinals said ushers tried to contain the cat when "a fan grabbed it and claimed it was hers".

So, what happened to Rally Cat? The cat was instantly dubbed #RallyCat on Twitter, and St. Louis went on to win - its fifth victory in a row.

"I thought, 'I'm taking this cat home".

The Cardinals look to complete the four game sweep of the Royals Thursday at Busch.

Merrifield made it 3-0 in the second, scoring on third on an error by catcher Molina, whose his throw to second bounced into center field on Cain's steal. As for Lynn, he's given up one earned run or fewer in five of his last six starts, going at least 6.0 innings in all of them. After a series of events, the Cardinals say it is missing. Maurer (1-5) took the loss.

"I'm not a cat person, but I sure like that one", St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said after the game, per MLB.com. Whit Merrifield had four hits and Melky Cabrera homered and drove in three runs. In 2011, a squirrel caused a big distraction during an NLDS game between the Cardinals and Phillies, running across home plate during Philadelphia pitcher Roy Oswalt's delivery before jumping into the stands.
