Blizzard Adding Deathmatch Mode to Overwatch Arcade

The new game modes are already live on Overwatch's PTR servers, meaning that if you're on PC, you can already see what's new. Sneakily, Mercy resurrections will take a kill away from the other team's total.

The two new play modes will be available on all maps, but Black Forest, Castillo, Ecopoint: Antarctica and Necropolis will only be available through Team Deathmatch mode.

They'll be able to beat everyone without having to work with others in a new game mode: Deathmatch.

There are two main ways players will be playing this mode and the first one is a free-for-all mode that allows you choose any hero you would like. There will also be new maps added to the game. Players will look to score 20 points first, with one point awarded for dealing the final blow to an opponent and one point deducted for a death caused by environmental or self-inflicted damage. The first player to reach 20 kills in the mode will officially be declared the victor. A brand new map will be used exclusively for the Free-For-All mode called Chateau Guillard, which is home to none other than Widowmaker, Talon's chief assassin. If you do want to play with some teammates in Deathmatch, you will have that option too in the Team Deathmatch game mode. You'll still collect Arcade loot boxes as long as you end up being in the top half of players in a match. This chateau will contain hints to Widowmaker's backstory given that before marriage her name was Amelie Guillard - Chateau Guillard is her families estate in France. A number of the game's existing maps have been adapted for the mode as well.

This was revealed by Jeff Kaplan, director of Overwatch, in a recent development video.
