The update version 1.11.617.3 was released for the smartphone according to the official change log posted by HTC on its website.

Apart from the default Pixel Launcher for Android Oreo features like Adaptive notification dots, Google search widget with that cool animation along with the date and weather, the swipe from left Google now feed, you also get a lot of new features with this Pixel Launcher 2.1.

One user on Reddit was able to port the new Google Pixel launcher, a major feature coming with the Android 8.0 Oreo.

An upcoming update to Google's Android software finally has a delectable name. Oreo is pretty much the only choice for an "O" dessert that's broadly and instantly recognizable, however, so it seems like it was nearly inevitable.

Android Oreo comes with several improvements over the Android Nougat such as faster booting, extend battery life by cutting down on unnecessary activities of apps in the back ground, more fluid experiences to phones and tablets as well as improvements in security via Google Play Protect that checks suspicious activities and malwares in application.

There is also now Android Instant Apps, which provide access to apps instantly without requiring a download for limited interactivity. There are devices other than the Pixel and Nexus lineup those will get the update within the end of this year. However, many enthusiasts were still not content with what was offered by stock Android and the variety of skins by different OEMs, so they opted to root their devices and make use of custom themes. The update introduced few system enhancements but does not bring along any noticeable change.
