Schumer will lead a cast of fellow amusing people, including Keegan-Michael Key (of "Key & Peele" fame, who is performing in an Off-Broadway run of "Hamlet" alongside Oscar Isaac), Alan Tudyk ("Firefly") and Tony Award victor Laura Benanti ("Gypsy").
Set in the 1990s on a hot California night, "Meteor Shower" will star Schumer as one half of the two couples who dine together and end up watching a cosmic shower of smoldering rocks.
Amy has been cast as Corky, with Alan Tudyk playing her husband Norm, while Laura Benanti and funnyman Keegan-Michael Key will portray the visiting couple, Laura and Gerald.
Meteor Shower will mark both Schumer and Key's Broadway debut; Key has also been performing off-Broadway this summer in the Public Theater's production of Hamlet.
The Trainwreck actress wrote: '#SteveMartin wrote a hilarious play @MeteorShowerBwy and I get to do it with @keeganmic @laurabenanti @alantudyk'.
Reviews from the play's earlier iterations have been mixed, but its current director, Jerry Zaks (of Hello, Dolly! acclaim), said that it's in the process of being sharpened into a Broadway-caliber production. Martin tweeted praise for Meteor Shower's "impeccable cast" before joking: "Just think, we can all love each other until the first day of rehearsal!" It is set for November 29 to officially open at Booth Theater. The show was previously staged, without Schumer, at the Long Wharf theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Old Globe in San Diego. His 2016 musical Bright Star ran for four months and was a financial failure but a critical darling, garnering a total of five Tony nominations.
Amy plays Renee Barrett In I Feel Pretty, a woman whose head injury leads her to believe a spell was cast on her to make her look incredibly attractive.
