Virgil van Dijk 'still expecting Liverpool move'

Jurgen Klopp has struggled to bring in the players he wants with RB Leipzig's Naby Keita understood to be a target, but Kamara thinks a deal for Van Dijk could still happen this summer.

However, it looks like the long wait could be over and Virgil Van Dijk may just be on his way to Anfield.

There is no suggestion that Liverpool have done anything wrong since they apologised and ended their interest, while Southampton's position remains that Van Dijk is not for sale.

Other full-backs they're interested in are Southampton pair Ryan Bertrand and Cedric Soares.

This stunning retreat from Liverpool was a breath of fresh air around St Mary's.

This summer sums up the odd position Liverpool are in: they will reject all overtures for Coutinho from a bigger club in Barcelona, but to seal the other deals they want, they have to act as Barcelona are doing in relation to them.

However, this has turned out not to be the case.

Dutch and Southampton defender, Virgil van Dijk has been excluded from Southampton's training tour in France.

He's now fit and another one who is in the best shape since I've known him. As a result, The Reds could well be tempted to go after van Dijk yet again.

Southampton say they do not want to sell the Netherlands worldwide. The Dutchman is strong, athletic and reads the game well.

Van Dijk has been constantly exceptional for the Saints.

He has been ordered by Southampton coach Maurico Pellegrino to train on his own because he is not in the "right frame of mind" to be with the rest of the squad. However, with Van Dijk clearly desperate for a move away, they face a serious battle not only to keep him, but to make him happy.
