Trump flirts with Irish TV reporter

Caitriona Perry is a Washington correspondent and US bureau chief for RTE News-Ireland.

The word Irish journalist Caitriona Perry used to characterize her recent interaction with President Donald Trump in the Oval office was "bizarre". Even if you're the President of the United States, bringing unwanted attention to a woman to compliment her looks, especially one who is at the White House to report on worldly matters, is not flattery.

Video of the encounter is making the rounds on social media.

The moment quickly went viral after Perry shared it on Twitter.

"Where are you from, come here, come here, where are you from?" he then asks Perry.

Leo has previously spoken about his admiration for Justin, and said in the Dáil today the he will be delighted to welcome Mr Trudeau and his family to Ireland next Tuesday. We have all of this handsome Irish press.

Trump was congratulating Leo Varadkar on becoming prime minister, and mentioned that Irish reporters were among those listening.

During Trump's light discussion with Varadkar, he interrupted the call to summon Perry to his desk.
