"The injury marks on her body and private parts suggest she was mutilated with sharp weapons", a police source said.
The woman was allegedly kidnapped from her home in Haryana's Sonipat on Tuesday, and taken to the Rohtak district, the police said.
A 23-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped and murdered by at least 7 men in Haryana's Rohtak district, police said.
The Supreme Court had last week upheld the conviction and death penalty to the accused Mukesh, Pawan, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Kumar Singh awarded to them by the Delhi High Court court on 13 March 2014. Like Nirbhaya, her private parts were mutilated too. The victim's body was found on the outskirts of Rohtak town, 70 km from national capital Delhi.
Her face, as well as the lower portion of her body, was consumed by dogs.
Two men have been arrested for the crime that has drawn widespread condemnation, and louder demands for punishing the culprits. The accused then threw the woman and her male companion out of the vehicle, and left them to die by the roadside. The arrested men were being interrogated, a police officer told IANS. The two arrested men have been identified as Sumit and Vikas, former a neighbor of the victim who had earlier proposed her.
"The prime accused (Sumit) claimed that he was once close to the victim and confessed to having killed her in a fit of rage following an argument", said Ajay Kumar, station house officer, Sonepat City police station. They had filed a missing report in Sonipat. He was pressurising her to marry him but she had refused. The incident is said to have occurred on May 9.
Expressing deep shock and outrage over the brutal gang rape and murder, Gandhi hoped that the Haryana government would take action against the perpetrators.
