Penelope Cruz to Play Donatella Versace in 'American Crime Story' Season 3

It will follow the second installment in the franchise, Katrina: American Crime Story.

The first American Crime Story series, The People v. O.J. Simpson, was released in February 2016, and was met with rave reviews, receiving tons of accolades, including 10 Emmy wins.

Latest casting news from the "American Crime Story" franchise: Oscar victor Penélope Cruz will play Donatella Versace, sister of murdered fashion designer Gianni Versace. The Oscar victor will play the blonde-haired fashion designer and sister to Gianni Versace, whose murder is the central focus of season 3. Though it definitely adds a touch of familiarity to see old faces worked into new characters in these Murphy projects-it'll be amusing to watch Glee's Darren Criss morph into Versace's killer Andrew Cunanan-it also gets sort of exhausted. With the anthology series' third iteration centering on the Versace fashion empire in the wake of the 1997 Miami Beach murder of founder Gianni Versace, Cruz will play the role of younger sister Donatella Versace, who subsequently became the face of the worldwide fashion house.

Versace, which will be based on Vulgar Favors, a book by Maureen Orth, is set to debut some time in 2018.

The exponentially expanding array of prestige anthology television from Ryan Murphy is already deep into far-ahead plans, judging by the latest cast acquisition.

"So I just don't think with her schedule, I knew that it would never have worked". In 2018, look for her and Edgar Ramirez to share the screen yet again in the feature film Love Child. Though Pepe Cruz is a surprising, and wholly welcome, choice for Donatella, she's got some big, Gina Gershon-sized stilettoes to fill.
