"President Rodrigo Duterte will undertake [an official] visit to Myanmar on March 19 and March 20, to be followed by an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand on March 20 to 22", foreign affairs spokesperson Charles Jose said in a Palace briefing.
Malacañang insisted that Duterte did not commit treason, betrayal of public trust, bribery or graft -which might warrant the impeachment of a President - and remains confident that it would not prosper.

The impeachment complaint also states that, as Davao City mayor, Duterte collected salaries of fictitious government employees and has up to $40 million in secret bank accounts. "The two countries will aggressively talk about ways to expand trade as Trump's protectionist policies would hurt both of the export-driven economies", said a source from the business circles.
Alejano's impeachment complaint won't get anywhere until May 7, when Congress resumes sessions after a Lenten break.

The allegations include overseeing anti-drugs death squads, as well as hiding assets. Global rights groups have said his policies and practices amount to human rights abuses.
"I cannot imagine how Representative Alejano can state under oath in paragraph 3 of the "Verification" of his complaint that "I/We hereby confirm and affirm that the material allegations made therein are true of my/our own knowledge and as culled from authentic records", he said.

Since Duterte assumed office past year, approaching 8,000 drug suspects have been killed, more than half by unknown gunmen on motorcycles. "By conceding the fight immediately even before the first shot is fired, clearly they know they have nothing against the president".
Duterte has slammed the European Union and United States for criticizing his war on drugs, saying western countries should not be imposing their values on the Philippines. The allegations in the complaint are not anchored on concrete or solid evidence that would support findings of any of the enumerated grounds for impeachment.
Alvarez said he is "very, very confident" that the impeachment case will not fly in the lower chamber.
