Google phones are popular, and ever since Google Pixel came to the picture, Google phones are selling like hot cakes. Based on the previous leak, it appears the Pixel 2 is going to be powered by a more powerful version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 under the hood, similar to how the Snapdragon 821 was a subtle upgrade over the Snapdragon 820 chipset a year ago. More importantly, the Google Pixel phones have performed great and received vast critical acclaim.
Osterloh further added that Google is not very keen on launching budget smartphones and the company will make sure that "Pixel stays premium". Users of Google's Allo app had access to Google Assistant in a way, though, so most of you probably already tried it out in one form or the other. "You can (also) count on a successor this year, even if you don't hear a date from me now".
There's no doubt about it Google is on to a victor with its Pixel line, however, with their success came some harsh lessons. All that the report can confirm at this point in time is that there is a budget Android phone being developed by the same team that's behind the Google Pixel 2 and that it will not be sold in the U.S.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, visited India a year ago and announced the company's plans to bring their smartphone prices as low as $30 (approximately Rs 2,000). Consumers can expect Quick Charge 4.0 in case Google Pixel 2 houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.
It is not yet known whether the Google Pixel 2 will have a similar display or not. If you own one of those devices, you can go ahead and download the factory images and OTA files right now directly from Google.
While Google doesn't break out its numbers for Pixel units sold, analysts estimate that customers bought around 552,000 Pixel phones by the end of 2016, according to USA Today.
In addition to this, the report also states that a prototype Pixel 2B is under development which could be released either together or after the Pixel 2 has been launched.
