Chance the Rapper won the Grammy for best rap album on Sunday night, something that he was not expecting at all.

Looks like the Grammys were just an appetizer: Chance the Rapper, three-time award-winner at this year's gala, is coming to San Diego!

Fresh off winning his first three Grammy Awards, Chance the Rapper is coming to MI.

"Glory be to God.I claim this victory in the name of the Lord", began Chance the Rapper, before thanking God for giving him his family. No truly independent artist has ever made it this far in the awards ceremony, and his success has really demonstrated how there is a lot more music than the stuff you find in your supermarket or CD store.

"I know people think that independence means you do it by yourself", Chance said in his acceptance speech for Best New Artist. The following year, Chance's "Acid Rap" earned almost universal acclaim and more than a million downloads.

The Chicago native, also known as Lil Chano off 79th, was nominated for seven Grammys and won three of them. In addition, "How Great", the song he performed at the Grammys, saw its percentage of streams rising by 461 percent. The mixtape is the first streaming-only album to receive a Grammy nomination, and is also notable for its groundbreaking, soulful and unapologetically joyful content. Chance can also count the likes of former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama as fans as well as Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Pop music fans in Singapore will cheer Adele's big haul at the Grammys this year, but when it comes to the other big victor, they might find themselves going, "Chance The Rapper, who?" Chance shouted jubilantly on the Grammy stage, after winning best rap album for his May 2016 gospel-infused hip hop mixtape Coloring Book.
