Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park.
Foreasters say the warm air mass is expected to give way to scattered showers thunderstorms Friday afternoon.
Thunderstorms over Lower Michigan State and Lake Huron will continue to track eastward this evening. The high winds brought down a large tree (above) on Westchester in Westland in a photo provided by a viewer.
Monitor weather radios and be prepared to take shelter.
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entire Southeast Michigan area and beyond - in effect until 8 p.m. Friday. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
The thunderstorm watch also covers the areas surrounding the Edmonton region. "Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!"
